S P Setia corporate HQ renews GBI Platinum certification with high score of 94 points

KUALA LUMPUR (June 26): S P Setia Bhd’s (KL:SPSETIA) corporate headquarters in Shah Alam has successfully renewed its Green Building Index (GBI) Platinum certification under the Non-Residential New Construction category, scoring 94 out of 100 points, according to a press statement issued on Friday.

The rating places the building among a select group of high-performing green buildings in Malaysia, where only 32 or 4% of the 800 certified buildings have attained the prestigious Platinum distinction.

S P Setia president and chief executive officer Datuk Zaini Yusoff said: “For Setia, this recognition reflects our broader commitment to embedding practical and measurable sustainability considerations across the spaces we build, manage and occupy”.

Greenbuildingindex Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Sarly Adre Sarkum highlighted the importance of consistency in maintaining a green building. “It is noteworthy for the consistency demonstrated over the past 13 years. S P Setia’s ability to maintain and enhance its sustainability standards over time reflects a long-term approach to environmental stewardship and responsible building management.”

S P Setia corporate headquarters has extensive landscaping that features native and adaptive plant species, as well as high-quality indoor environment through enhanced ventilation, solar daylight integration with glare control, and rainwater harvesting.

The corporate headquarters achieved the full 35 points allocated under the energy efficiency assessment of GBI, despite a higher usage demand stemming from the consolidation of staff from the Setia City Welcome Centre and Setia Eco Tower.

The property features a high-quality indoor environment through enhanced ventilation, solar daylight integration with glare control, rainwater harvesting, and extensive landscaping with native plant species.
