S P Setia Records First Win for The EdgeProp-ILAM Malaysia’s Sustainable Landscape Award 2019
KUALA LUMPUR: A recipient of the Malaysia's Responsible Developer: Building Sustainable Development award last year, S P Setia continued its award-winning streak at the EdgeProp Malaysia’s Best Managed Property Awards 2019 organised by EdgeProp.my with a Gold award win this year in the EdgeProp-ILAM Malaysia’s Sustainable Landscape Award 2019 category.
Awarded for the Lepironia Garden development located in the idyllic award-winning township of Setia Eco Glades in Cyberjaya, S P Setia was represented by Datuk Wong Tuck Wai, Deputy President & COO of the Group at the award ceremony last night.
“All of us at S P Setia are extremely proud to receive this award as it proves that we have set a benchmark not only as a leading property developer, but also a top-of-class sustainable landscape developer in Malaysia — an important attribute that sets us apart from the rest,” said Datuk Wong after accepting the award from YB Puan Zuraida Kamaruddin, Housing and Local Government Minister (Malaysia).
He added, “We are happy that our strategies and good governance have continued to yield benefits for the Setia Group in terms of recognition and as a frontrunner in the industry. This award will inspire us to work even harder to reach greater heights. It is a testament to our strong reputation and will further cement our standing as a leader in the property sector.”
The sustainable landscape award acts as a measuring tool to complement properties that are designed, built and maintained for sustainability, so as to stimulate a continual improvement of the industry. S P Setia is a leading listed real estate player with a portfolio that encompasses townships, eco-sanctuaries, luxury enclaves, high-rise residences, commercial and retail as well as integrated-mixed and transit-oriented developments.
The winning development, Setia Eco Glades, is part of a RM3 billion certified Green Township, and is set amidst an abundance of flora and fauna; showcasing S P Setia's ability in creating masterpieces to call home. “Combining residential luxury with eco-consciousness is in fact, our unique expertise," said Datuk Wong, adding that the project is a collection of eight islands, each set against individual themed gardens and unique fountains, comprising of linked-villas, semi-detached homes, bungalows and low-rise island villa suites.
Using a wide variety of water features, Lepironia Garden emerged from the conscious shaping of water as a dynamic landscape element. Reflecting the fluid continuity of a gentle breeze teasing a ripple across a serene pond, Lepironia Garden was created to enhance the sense of peace, calm and tranquillity in Setia Eco Glades. The 20.66-acre Lepironia Garden was named after the resident species of the wetland plant - Lepironia articulata which was found vastly on site.
Its 37% of green spaces consist of the central garden (2.9 acres), streetscape (2.7 acres) and the Orchard Garden (2 acres). With waterways that integrate seamlessly into the landscape, Lepironia Garden’s primary function in the masterplan is as a working water filtration and erosion prevention system using the natural elements of plants.
“It is a known fact that wherever we set our footprint, we strive to connect with our communities, creating ecological features and sustainable living environments that enrich their lives, in line with S P Setia’s ‘LiveLearnWorkPlay’ development philosophy,” said Datuk Wong. “Together with our brand new mantra : Stay Together. Stay Setia, it will remain our winning strategy for years to come.”
